Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon WeekendWalt Disney World’s Fall Race – Course & Registration Information
The Inaugural Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon is a night race that features a new course and an after-hours party at the Epcot International Food and Wine Festival.
Billed as a “Runner’s Night Out,” the Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon will be held Saturday, Oct. 2, 2010. Its 10:00 p.m. start makes this Disney’s first night half marathon. The course begins at ESPN (formerly Disney’s) Wide World of Sports and runs through three theme parks before finishing in Epcot World Showcase. Participants must maintain a 16-minute per mile pace or faster for the half marathon or relay. The Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend includes several events: the half marathon, a two-person relay, 5K Halloween-themed fun run, kids’ races, health and fitness expo, and the finish line party. Highlights of the race include new course entertainment and the exclusive after-hours party. Runners and walkers, and their family and friends, may participate in this Finish Line Party. Event transportation is included for participants staying at one of the event’s host resorts: Disney’s All-Star Sports, Port Orleans French Quarter, Polynesian, or Yacht Club. Disney Wine & Dine Half MarathonRegistration for the half marathon, which is open to runners 14 years and older, is $135. Registration includes a commemorative shirt, goody bag, and on-course and post-race refreshments. Participants registered by Aug. 2, 2010 will receive personalized bibs and finishers will receive an inaugural medal. Commemorative items and race day photos will be available. Race participants may join the Finish Line Party of the Epcot International Food and Wine Festival. Entry includes one complimentary “taste” and one complimentary “sip.” Disney Wine & Dine Two-Person RelayThe two-person relay option divides the half marathon into unequal distances. Runner 1 will complete a leg of 5.1 miles that begins at Wide World of Sports and ends at the exchange point at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Runner 2 will travel 8 miles from Disney’s Animal Kingdom through Disney’s Hollywood Studios before finishing the race in Epcot. Registration for the two-person relay team is $195. Registration includes those items listed for the half marathon, one for each runner, as well as commemorative batons. Mickey’s Halloween Family Fun Run 5KThe Family Fun Run, the Magic Kingdom’s only 5K held, will start at 7.00 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 2. The course begins in the Happy Parking lot and ends in West Beach outside the park. The 5K offers Halloween-themed course entertainment and encourages participants to dress up as their favorite characters. Race participants will receive a shirt, race bag, and a trick-or-treat bag of race refreshments. Participants who register by Aug. 2 will receive personalized bibs. Finishers who maintain a 16-minute per mile or faster pace will receive an inaugural medallion. Registration for the 5K event will open by Jan. 1, 2010. Disney’s Kids’ RacesHeld Friday, October 1 at 7:00 p.m. at Wide World of Sports, the kids’ races are open to children 13 years and younger. Events include a one-mile run and shorter races for the following age groups:
The one-mile run does not feature distinct age groups. Registration for the one-mile run includes a shirt, trick-or-treat refreshments bag, a finisher certificate and a medallion. Participants registered by Aug. 2, 2010 will receive a personalized bib. Registration for kids’ races will open by January 1, 2010. Disney's Health & Fitness Expo and Packet Pick-UpParticipants are required to visit the two-day expo, held at Wide World of Sports, to pick up their bib numbers and packets. Expo hours are Friday, Oct. 1, from 12:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 2, from 9:00 a.m. – 4: 00 p.m. The expo will also offer race merchandise and commemorative items for purchase as well as exhibitors’ merchandise. Epcot Finish Line PartyThe party is part of the Epcot International Food and Wine Festival, which showcases more than 25 kiosks of wine and tapas-sized international food from six continents. The Wine & Dine’s Finish Line Party is open to half marathon and relay participants as part of their registration fee. Family, friends and spectators must purchase separate tickets. The party begins at 10:30 p.m. and stays open until 3:00 a.m. The ticket allows spectators to see race participants at the finish and provides access to the restricted after-hours Epcot International Food & Wine Festival. A ticket also includes one complimentary “taste” and one complimentary “sip.” Tickets for the party will be available for purchase by Feb. 1, 2010.
